How to Add a YouTube Video to Facebook
In this short video I’ll show you how to add a video to Facebook.
Here are the basic steps:
- Find the video in YouTube
- Click “share” at the bottom of the video
- Copy the link that you see there
- Go to Facebook – to your profile or a page
- Add the link to the update. Facebook should find the video after a couple of seconds
- Feel free to describe the video or add a link to a blog post or other related content
- Here’s a link to my video post in Facebook so you can see an example

Tom,
Does Facebook consider this a 1st Party add to your timeline and give it the increased weight in Fan News Feeds?
Thanks!
Ryan H.
Ryan, I don’t think so actually. I can post as the page though (and I alternate) so I think that would be more likely to reach the fans. The ones I post as me might get my non-page fans though. That’s why I alternate. Thanks for asking.
Thanks Tom… the whole idea on Facebook of 1st Party versus 3rd Party adds to your Timeline is a pain in rear-end…
This is a great question Ryan. I think that any kind of Facebook sharing tool is considered as a Facebook post. Therefore, just like the Facebook share buttons we have on our blogs, the share button on YouTube should be considered as posting directly to Facebook. Make sense?
