The Problem With SEO Myths

Search engine optimization is a serious business. Ever since search engines, Google, in particular, started ranking websites, SEO has become an industry unto itself, providing jobs for countless people the world over.

Still, despite the proven effectiveness and importance of SEO in the digital world, many individuals and groups still look at SEO professionals as tricksters who are out to make a quick buck by doing practically nothing. And the countless SEO myths that abound are not helping the cause of SEO one bit.

Do you own an online business or a website? Chances are, you have received emails from purported SEO professionals guaranteeing that your site will be on Page 1 of Google’s Search Engine Results Page in just a short time. Of course, they won’t be able to deliver on this promise because there is no such thing as quick SEO results.

Real, organic SEO success takes time, and optimization is a continuously-evolving process. Unfortunately, people still fall for that email and pay the “SEO professionals” good money, which they gladly take even when they know it’s impossible to fulfill their promise.

Even more annoying are “SEO professionals” who swear they know someone inside Google who can manipulate results and get their sites to Page 1. This, of course, is a lie, but people still believe it.

Other SEO myths, which you can see in the infographic below, are not as outrageous, but they cause a lot of confusion just the same.
